2013 conference year kicks off with Omnicard in Berlin

OmnicardOmnicard, the most established German conference for the smart card / smart objects community, is happening this week from the 15th – 17th January. Many Silicon Trust partners will be there, so don’t miss out on the chance to network at this exclusive event. 

On its 20th anniversary OMNICARD has once again evolved further. As well as including a wide spectrum of topics it will also adopt a new structure based largely on parallel sessions. In visual terms, the diversity of the sector and the rapid changes taking place within it will be reflected in a new corporate image featuring innovative design.

With its familiar motto “The world of smart ID solutions” OMNICARD 2013 is offering a comprehensive overview of the latest developments in relation to secure, electronic-identity-based applications. Experts and management on the supplier side will meet with decision makers from the finance sector, from the world of politics, and from regulatory bodies and standardisation authorities. The conference also attracts researchers, representatives of business federations and consultants.

The spectrum of topics is broader than ever: There will be forums, workshops and tutorials on banking, e-&mPayment, eGovernment, eID, De-mail, smart grid, eMobility, eEnergy, eJustice, cloud computing, NFC, eTicketing, eHealth and on the electronic health card and data protection issues. Another main topic will be the status quo of Germany’s new electronic identity card and the perspectives for the future.

The Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology will act as patron of OMNICARD. Secretary of State Anne Ruth Herkes will open the conference.

Keynote addresses include:  

Peter Bauer, former CEO of Infineon Technologies, who will discuss the high quality of Made in Germany IT security, and of its importance in the face of strong competition from Asia.

Professor Franz Josef Radermacher will address the question of meaningful and sustainable development for the world’s growing population.

The President of the University of Potsdam, Professor Oliver Günther, will speak about the gap between self-presentation by individuals in the digital media and their evaluation by third parties.
