This deployment represents another step in the cooperation between Cross Match, NEC, and the end user.

Cross Match provided the first generation palm scanners to the agency back in 1996/1997, as one of the few companies able to meet the stringent technical requirements,” said Roberto Wolfer, product manager for livescan solutions at Cross Match. “Our close relationship with the prime, NEC Japan, enabled us to work together to fulfill the requirements of this latest deployment.

The L SCAN 500P is a field-proven, robust palm scanner favored by law enforcement agencies around the world. The custom version incorporates a number of specific features requested by the agency for their third generation system. Cross Match modified the resolution to 508 dpi, modified the print image capture area, and incorporated several ergonomic enhancements. The 59 scanners represent the initial procurement and are to be deployed throughout Japan by the national law enforcement agency.
